Can my dog move around when wearing a Roadie?

The Roadie Canine Vehicle Restraint allows your dog to sit, stand, or lie down safely. Your pet can do anything on the seat with the Roadie on that he can do with it off, except become a projectile!

If I order today, how long will it be before I receive my order?

We get 90% of our orders out in 1 to 2 business days. Occasionally some sizes are on back order. Some special orders are subject to production turn over. We use Priority Mail for the majority of our shipments.

I have a growing puppy. Should I buy the size he will be when full grown?

Proper fit is essential. Puppies need to be sized just like full grown dogs. (See our size chart.) We do not recommend that you buy a size larger for your puppy so that the puppy will "grow into it". If the harness is too big, it will fall off.

Will my dog will like wearing the harness?

Dogs catch on very quickly. Once a dog realizes that the Roadie means that they are going for a ride in the car, they quickly begin to love the harness. Also, because this harness is orthopedically designed, dogs are comfortable in the harness.

Is this a one size fits all harness?

No, see our size chart.

Help! My active dog gets tangled in the shoulder/lap belt combination seatbelt!

Some active dogs do manage to get tangled in the shoulder/lap seatbelt. There is a inexpensive device called a locking clip that holds the shoulder and lap belt together, and you can position it so that the seatbelt is almost completely out of your dog's way.

Are dogs safe in crates?

A crash test done by a German insurance company shows debris flying freely in the test car after the dog crate exploded on impact. The crate was fastened securely in the vehicle with the seatbelt. The crate exploded because the "dummy dog" hit the inside of the crate with incredible force. Remember that any loose object in the car is a potential missile.

My dog likes to ride in the front seat.

Ruff Rider Products highly recommends that you put your dog(s) in the back seat. The safest seat is the seat in the middle. The two most important reasons for NOT putting your dog in the front seat are:

1. Air bags punch out of the dashboard at 140 miles per hour and as with small children, airbags can be lethal for dogs.

2. Because of the short distance between your dogs nose and the windshield, chances of him hitting the windshield are very good.

I think the harness is too big/small

Here are two tests to try to see if your Roadie is too big or too small.

Too small: If the harness is too small, the dog's fur and skin will over lap the webbing.

Too big: After putting the harness on your dog, buckle both buckles, tighten the chest and belly strap, and pull the red lead through the yellow loop. Then, without injuring your dog, try taking the harness off by pulling it over the dog's head. If you can pull the harness off, it is probably too big.
