The knurling on the black zinc plated shaft is a very consistent and crisp machine pressed knurling, slowly feed so it is course depth and medium course texture with 14 points per inch.

Texas Power Bar by Buddy Capps Welding Since 1980, Buddy Capps of Irving, TX, has been manufacturing the Texas Power Bar which has become the most popular all-purpose powerlifting bar in the USA for both training and competition. The Texas Power Bar was followed several years later with the 7-1/2' Texas Deadlift Bar and shortly thereafter the 8' Texas Squat Bar was introduced. Buddy Capps is a former Texas State Powerlifting Champion. The Texas Deadlift Bar is used by the majority of powerlifting organizations in the USA and is regarded as the bar to deadlift with worldwide.

Don't accept a substitute. Look for the State of Texas outline on the end of each Texas Power Bar, Texas Deadlift Bar, and Texas Squat Bar.

Capps Welding uses Black Zinc Plated bars.

This is not the cheaper black oxide that only darkens the steel but give no corrosion resistance.

Black Zinc Plating is a 2 step process.

First step involves applying a thin coating of zinc to surface of the bar to guard against corrosion. Zinc offers excellent corrosion resistance because it is more easily oxidized by the atmosphere. Oxidation occurs when metal is exposed to air or water, and electrons from the metal transfer to the oxygen. When zinc is tightly bonded to steel, the zinc frees up its electrons more readily than the steel, leaving the stronger metal beneath intact. The application of the zinc coating is accomplished by dipping the steel into molten zinc or by electrolytic plating of the steel with zinc, much like chrome plating. The electrolytic process gives the metal parts an aesthetically pleasing appearance, as well as corrosion resistance.

The second step is a smooth black chromate conversion that give the bar that black look.

Polished steel Capps Welding bars sleeves can not fall off. Chrome plated sleeves are an available option if you call.

Collars are welded to sleeves and the assembly is roll pinned onto the bar so they can never loosen or fall of.

Capps Welding bars have Oil Impregnated bearings need no lubrication

The bearings on the collar/sleeve assembly are oil impregnated and never need lubrication. Built for a lifetime of hard use.
